FDA Upgrades Nationwide Cheese Recall

If you’ve been pickin’ up grated Pecorino Romano cheese lately, check your fridge ASAP. What started as a recall back in November got bumped up to the highest danger level by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration — that’s Class I, meaning there’s a real chance the product could cause serious illness or even death if consumed.

What’s being recalled?
A bunch of grated or shredded Pecorino Romano cheese products from brands like Ambriola, Locatelli, Boar’s Head, Member’s Mark, and Pinna — all made at the same facility in New Jersey and shipped across about 20 states from Nov. 3 to Nov. 20, 2025.
Why the recall?
Routine FDA testing found Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause listeriosis — a serious infection that hits especially hard on pregnant people, seniors, kids, and folks with weak immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, nausea, headache, abdominal pain and diarrhea — and in dangerous cases, it can cause miscarriages or stillbirths.📍 What should you do?
If you’ve got any of these cheeses in your house:
✔ Do not eat it.✔ Throw it out (wrap it up so pets or others don’t find it).✔ Or take it back for a refund.✔ And if you’ve eaten some and start feeling sick, hit up a healthcare provider right away.

This recall is a wake-up call; Listeria can lurk in foods you don’t even suspect and it survives in the fridge, so don’t sleep on this one. Keep your people safe, check your labels, and always stay on top of FDA recall notices if you care about what’s really in your house.
Stay smart. Stay healthy.
