Grammy-nominated rapper Gloria “GloRilla” Woods got caught in a wild spin recently. Deputies were called to her Forsyth County home around 1:30 a.m. on July 19 after a burglary; and even shots—rocked the crib. Though Glo wasn’t home, someone inside fired back, sending the intruders fleeing.

But here’s where it gets surprising: while searching the house, officers smelled marijuana and secured a warrant. In the master bedroom closet, they found “a significant amount of marijuana” plus a controlled substance, leading to two felony charges—one for marijuana possession and one for possession of a Schedule I drug

GloRilla—who goes by Glo Rilla—turned herself in on Tuesday, July 22, at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office PitchforkEW.com.
She was released later that day after posting a $22,260 bond

Lawyers Speak Out

Her legal team didn’t mince words. They blasted the arrest as “a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become.”

“Instead of investigating the violent home invasion ... they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana… Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect,” her attorneys said.

They pointed out there have been no arrest warrants issued for the burglary suspects, even though they took jewelry and traumatized family members inside the home
